Wooden Spoon ball 2005
BY: JIM WILLIAMS

This was 3rd year we have provided the technical services for the Annual Wooden Spoon Ball. Each year held at the Park Lane London Hilton Hotel.
As you can see the 2005 theme was a winter wonderland with the evening being labelled The Snow Ball. I variety of acts entertained people through the meal as well as the raffle prizes being displayed and introduced with Pyrotechnics. This years prizes being a Car and a small Speed boat to name a few.
After dinner was some much needed fund raising and then it was onto the dancing. The fantastic Overtures playing classic tracks from the Sixties for an hour. Then the lucky winners of the raffle were announced. After that it was over to Musik Xpress you took the dancing right through to 2.30am
The rig was made up of two large trusses each containing over 80 meters of quad trussing. This held over 40 moving heads and well as another 50 profiles with scatter and snowflake gobo's. Again 3 large screens were flown and a live feed from 4 cameras was projected as well as PowerPoint and other video footage.
The sound was flown from the main truss as well as out fills and delays along the rear truss giving great coverage in any seat. This was one of the first functions that we used Yamaha's new M7 digital console at front of house and it was an instant hit, giving total control and ease for moving from one band to the next in short time frame.
Once again Thousands of pounds were raised on the night for the Wooden spoon Charity and we were very proud to be involved again.
