Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Annual Ball
BY: ROB WALLACE

The Lawn Tennis Association Ball was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in June 2005.
SLV were delighted to provide both Sound and Lighting for this event.
This event required an elegant dining arrangement with cabaret followed by dancing for the entertainment of the guests. Each of the 65 tables were individually pin spotted picking out the detail on each table, with white table cloths and chair covers this always produces a great effect.
The main stage had a star cloth backdrop with the well known insignia of the crossed rackets also picked out in lights. Lighting for the band and dance floor was suspended from a 10m truss held on 2 of our Apt65 winch up stands, ideal in this type of venue when hanging points can’t take the sort of weight loading needed. A 10 speaker satellite sound system was used for speeches and provided the sound for Celtic dancers cabaret which took place after dinner. Mac 250’s and 300’s provided dance floor lighting for the cabaret, as well as general mood lighting during dinner. An 8 piece string orchestra provided dinner music and with 8 condenser mics, we relayed them through the sound system so everyone in the room could enjoy their talent. After the dinner and cabaret the party really began with dancing from Johnny Howard’s Roller Coaster Band. For this section of the evening we provided a further 12 scanners to cover the dance floor with light and movement.
The evening was a great success for all involved.
